Kratom a natural plant has been used safely for hundreds of years. In its natural form it does not cause respiratory depression. Many people including myself benefit greatly from Kratom. Regulation rather than banning is the way to go.
You should regulate Kratom and band the synthetic substance 7-OH.

When are you planning on banning the sale of alcohol in Toledo? 17% of adults in Ohio binge drink. What percentage of adults are using Kratom? There are 5,739 deaths per year in Ohio are attributable to excessive alcohol use. How many deaths from Kratom leaf or leaf powder? I can't find information on a single Kratom related death. Alcohol kills not only people who drink but those of us unlucky enough to targeted by the drunk person or their car. Kratom doesn't kill. Don't ban it.

Why would you want to ban such a wonderful substance as Kratom leaf? Are you unaware of the thousands of people who use Kratom regularly for their chronic pain? I'm one of those people! It is very safe and effective when used correctly. You can't control what people do. Do you remember prohibition? You will be criminalizing thousands of people simply because they use Kratom to control chronic pain as well as maintaining a healthy system. Please reconsider banning the leaf. That won't work.

Unadulterated Kratom is safe and I have been using for many years. It's very beneficial for all my health issues. UNADULTERATED POWDER has never killed anyone and in Southeast Asia, not one reported death. It's the synthetic 7oh you should worry about. This disappears quickly and doesn't show up in Autopsy s. Listen to the science.

Kratom leaf saved me from opiate addiction! Please consider leaving it be.. anything altered, is fair game, but making a natural herb illegal will be detrimental to a lot of people, and most that utilize it are 30+ in age. It doesn't yield a high, just relief. Thank you

I oppose the banning of Kratom. I suffer from degenerative disc disease and was in pain management for 9 years taking pharmeceuticals daily to help relieve the pain. I was abruptly abandoned by the doctor due to the strict government policies. I found whole-leaf Kratom powder in 2019 and it's worked far better for me. I've had no negative side effects and I am free from debilitating pain. Whole-leaf Kratom powder is an amazing tool. Please keep it safe and legal with regulations not prohibition.

My 22 year old son Matthew Eller died from KRATOM POWDER (the least potent form of Kratom available in the United States). Kratom caused him to have a seizure, go into cardiac arrest and die. His toxicology showed he died from the “TOXIC effects of Mitragynine” an alkaloid found only in Kratom. He had no prescription drugs, no street drugs nor alcohol in his system when he died, and his autopsy showed he had no underlying health conditions.

I am against banning of this miracle plant. Kratom has saved my life and those of many. My siblings have both been freed from the shackles of various illicit drugs. I utilize Kratom and have since 2015 for moderate to severe chronic pain and anxiety. Banning helps to fuel the black market and deaths from fentanyl and other deadly substances. I know hundreds of individuals who have had their quality of life restored thanks to kratom. There are hundreds of thousands more who benefit from kratom.

Oppose. Pure Kratom leaf is not the problem. The extracts, concentrates, and “7OH” products are. Kratom helps treat and manage ailments and conditions that are otherwise only treated with prescription narcotics. The energy put into this ban should be focused towards research and development instead of vilification of this natural plant remedy. These harmful adulterated forms of Kratom are the result of ignorance and greed, not harm reduction and necessity

I oppose the idea of banning kratom. The FDA & many other sources have proven through studies the safety of pure kratom. The problem has been the 7OH extracts and adulterated kratom products that have been put out on the market. Those products are NOT kratom. To protect kratom consumers adopt the Kratom Consumer Protection Act. It has already passed the House in Ohio, and it is currently pending in the Senate. Please listen to the American Kratom Association, follow the science, and the truth.

I oppose the idea of banning kratom. The FDA and many other sources have proven through studies how safe kratom is. The recent problem has been the 7OH extracts that have been put out on the market. Those products are NOT kratom. An easy solution would be to adopt the Kratom Consumer Protection Act. It has already passed the House in Ohio, and it is currently pending in the Senate. Please listen to the American Kratom Association, follow the science, and the truth.

I strongly support Toledo banning the sale of kratom. This substance is addictive, unregulated, and has been linked to seizures, liver damage, and deaths. Families like mine have experienced devastating loss because of it. A ban will protect young people, prevent more tragedies, and put community safety first. Please act now to keep kratom out of your city.”
We cannot allow gas stations and smoke shops to profit while more lives are destroyed.

I am an Ohio resident who has been a kratom consumer for 8 years. Banning plain leaf is going to cause a problem for thousands of residents. I have been able to go back to work and become a participant in my children and grandchildren’s lives thanks to this plant. Plain leaf Kratom is not the problem. The problem is the 7oh extracts. Follow the lead of the FDA.

Banning kratom will harm people like me who rely on it for pain and anxiety relief. Prescription meds are hard to access due to the opioid crisis, and kratom has been a safe alternative. Removing it takes away a lifeline for those transitioning from opioids or managing chronic pain. The FDA and HHS recently recommended scheduling synthetic 7-OH, not the natural plant. Keep natural kratom accessible for those who depend on it.

I oppose the ban on Kratom. Many chronic pain patients who have been cut off of opioids use this as a pain reliever. Please dont take the only thing chronic pain patients have left. We are already suffering. Kratom has been used for many years without problems like street fentanyl.

Kratom is used by over 23 million Americans, often as a crucial part of their day to day well being. For many, it has given them their life back. Please don’t take away something that has helped so many people.

Also keep in mind that Kratom users VOTE. It’s a very high voting demographic.

I was addicted to heroin for years, I now live a good life thanks to kratom and 7oh. I nearly quit my job due to chronic pain before finding 7oh, now I haven't missed work in over a year. A ban will only harm those who have found a safe alternative to dangerous pharma or street opioids. 7oh is not the danger it is portrayed as, it is actually incredibly safe and a valuable harm reduction tool. It has caused zero confirmed deaths according to FDA data. Kratom and 7oh both save lives!

I live in chronic pain. I've been taking kratom for 7 yrs. Kratom gives me the ability to work, to have some normal daily functions. Without it i would be bedbound on a heating pad in tears. Doctor's are not treating pain properly and the chronic pain community is suffering. Please do not take this from us. Its all wr have.

I’ve suffered with physical and mental health issues most of my life. Whole leaf Kratom powder is the single most effective tool that I have to manage my health issues. It offers me relief and support without making me inebriated or intoxicated. Kratom supports the health of productive members of society across this country and poses little to no major issues for society - as evidenced by the fact it’s been used widely here for the past 20 years and most have never even heard of it!
