Strongly oppose, I have been a depressed drug addict my whole adult life. With kratom and 7oh im able to finally hold a job and pay taxes. Please do not take it away. You guys are getting misinformation, this substance is very safe and the supposed deaths have all involved pre existing conditions and/or other substances. Big pharma and AKA are fueling the propaganda. Ban alcohol instead, no one is getting DUIs on 7oh.

Strongly oppose. Kratom is safe and effective at keeping a lot of people off hard drugs. Scheduling kratom and it's alkaloids will surely lead many back to street drugs and kill them. Please do not schedule kratom

Katom Saved my life. I have been sober off of opioid pain medication and heroin for over 8+ years now. Natural kratom leaf has helped me safely manage my pain while keeping me off of harmful and tolerance building pain medication that desotroyed my life. Kratom is an exgremely effective harm reduction tool and needs to be accessible to adults 21+. Banning ths plant will only cause more death to the fentanyl epidimic and put more American's at risk.

Making kratom and/or 7-OH Schedule 1 would severely harm the approximately 525,000 kratom users in Ohio, the majority of which are using it for chronic pain relief and recovery from opioid use disorder (OUD). A ban forces them to find relief from opioids from the illicit market, where they can easily overdose and die from fentanyl and other adulterants. I am begging you as an addiction scientist & kratom expert to keep this safer option that contains partial, not full opioid agonists, available.

I completely oppose a Kratom leaf ban. It has saved so many people from addictions like alcohol and heroin, not to mention people using it for pain management. There are many Ohioans on both sides of the political aisle that use this miracle plant. There is also 0 doubt in my mind that Kratom is safer than things like suboxone or Percocet, let alone alcohol. I agree kids shouldn’t have it but to make it schedule 1 makes no sense. There is a fentanyl epidemic in Ohio, why don’t we fix that first?

In 2005 I woke up paralyzed and was later diagnosed with Transverse Myelitis, leaving me a chronic pain patient. After DEA cutbacks, I was left to suffer, until I found whole leaf kratom in 2019. Taken responsibly, it gave me my life back: I can be a mom, run errands, and live without constant pain. Whole leaf kratom is not the same as semi-synthetic 7oh products.7oh products should not be marketed as kratom. I respectfully ask that you oppose the scheduling of kratom in Ohio.

Kratom and its alkaloids, especially 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH), are vital harm reduction tools and have been used safely for as long as kratom itself. Some claim 7-OH is synthetic, but it is identical to what naturally occurs in kratom as the body metabolizes mitragynine. Over 500 million doses of isolated 7-OH products have been taken with no verified overdoses. Please keep these tools available for public health safety and urgently needed harm reduction purposes.

In September 2023, at age 41, I was diagnosed with Stage IV CRC Cancer with "innumerable metastasis to the liver". In order to save my life, I would have to submit to indefinite FOLFOX Chemotherapy every 2 weeks (I have had 40 treatments thus far), radiation, major surgeries (3 so far), a Chemo port placement, and too many scans, doctor's visits, and adjunct treatments to count. Kratom is the only thing that has enabled me to continue working and contributing to society. Oppose wholeheartedly

I discourage any ban or scheduling of kratom. The Ohio Board of Pharmacy already dealt with kratom in 2018 and they had to acknowledge the science that supports kratoms safety. Also, more studies have been done and some by the FDA that show how safe kratom is. Also, kratom is much different from 7-OH and other synthetic products. Natural plain kratom leaf has been shown to be safe. One way to keep things straight and people safe is to adopt the Kratom Consumer Protection Act.

Hello my name is Tristan Weaver, Md or certified in pain management. Mainly focused on neuromodulation. I am current practicing at Ohio State school of medicine. We are doing research currently about how kratom is prefect for treating pain. I ask you highly to not recommend scheduling because that means we can no longer do research. Essentially cutting off new medication.. there is medical value and therefore should not be controlled one

Hello my name is Rainier Borda, MD I am a practicing Physician at the Pain management at Cleveland Clinic. I have been in medicine for over 20 years. Pain is not subjective. the way we treat in America is horrible. Most pain management places are refusing to treat chronic pain. Living the patient with no other option natural or street drugs. schedule one means no medical value based off that alone it has medical value. I question the push to ban leaving thousands with no options.

I am an Iraq war veteran in 2012 I got blew up in a IED basically living me in a wheelchair. Every day since I been in horrible pain. I was addicted to pain pill. I had no other option I was so depressed. I ended up started taking kratom for the pain get off the pills. With me being not mobile. If you have this ban I would be left with no options. I could go by drugs in the street or I could end my life. My two options. Would be on your hands.

I respectfully oppose a ban on kratom. Please open your minds and yours hearts to understanding that kratom has helped millions of people live healthy and productive lives. The AKA and chemists like Christopher R. McCurdy, (Ph.D., FAAPS) have strong scientific supporting kratoms safety profile. Peer reviewed papers and studies show that natural kratom has a low potential for abuse. It is safe to consume and does not depress the upper respiratory system. It has been helping people for centuries.

I oppose any ban on Kratom leaf and any of its alkaloids. Kratom and its parts are naturally occurring, safe and are showing huge potential in harm reduction.

I opposed the ban and this will only set back what you're trying to do. The ban is going to cause a spike in overdoses as people will be made into criminals overnight that are not Street savvy. Kratom does not need to be a schedule 1 it's as safe as coffee and definitely safer than beer. disabled who depend on this because you guys are saving us to death and now get proper treatment from our doctors. This works as an anti-inflammatory analgesic it doesn't feel like an opiate or anything in kind

I strongly support keeping natural leaf kratom safe and legal for all Toledoans and Ohioans. Well-labelled and properly produced kratom is proven safe for adults to consume, and sensible regulation is enough to keep constituents safe. Natural leaf kratom does not belong on the Schedule I list, it has therapeutic potential and extremely low risk factors.
